A Letter From Winter

[Isa 55:10-11 NKJV]
10 For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper [in the thing] for which I sent it…”

Before winter started, I looked at the Farmer’s Almanac to see what it was predicting this winter’s weather would be like. It said that it was going to be a mild winter, so the joy that flooded my soul in anticipation of less snow and warmer weather I boasted about it. To my chagrin, this has been a long, cold winter that’s still won’t let up.

So, in looking at this snow, the Lord reminded me that everything has a purpose, and lessons can be learned, if we change the way we look at things. I was looking at winter from the stand-point of how much I hate snow, and not for what it does for the environment and earth, and not how God uses snow to remind us of His promises.

Isaiah 55:10 says that the rain and the snow will not evaporate and return to the heavens, UNTIL it causes the earth to produce seed to the sower and then bread to the eater. This snow is setting up the farmer for a great harvest, months down the road! The farmer is looking at snow and how it is preparing his field for the plowing, planting and then the plenty! Verse 11, God says His Word is just like the rain and the snow; in that it cannot, and will not, return to Heaven until IT brings “seed to the sower, and bread to the eater.”
So, I want to encourage you my brother and sister to celebrate the snow; because it should now remind you of the Word of God that was spoken over your life. The Word will not go away, it will not dissipate until it produces what God sent it to do in your life. God is setting you up for PLENTY! Your blessing may be days, months, even years from now, but just know, it’s setting the stage for easy plowing, and strategic planting so that your harvest will be plenteous! Learn from this winter!
